The Making of a Mini...

Each seasonal mini-series starts with an immersive outing in nature, often at one of the many beautiful Toledo Metroparks, a world-class park system. I select a set of pictures from each photoshoot to collectively tell a story or invite the viewer to experience a magical moment in time. Images are printed onto canvas and the canvas is wrapped and glued around a wooden block on five sides to resemble a wrapped package. I like to think of each mini as a gift from nature. The back is unwrapped and stained usually with an oak or pecan stain. Oils are used to paint over the photograph; in some cases, entirely covering the photo, and in others, some of the original photograph is left exposed. Due to the mixing of paint colors and artistic interpretation of every photo, each mini is an original and one-of-a-kind.
